About Susan

Susan Bertozzi completed her M.A. in Counseling Psychology through Lesley University in Denver, Colorado in 1994. Since that time, she has been working as a psychotherapist with children, teens, adults and families. From the onset, she encountered many clients who either didn’t want to take medications, didn’t want to put their children on medications, or who had adverse experiences from psychiatric medications.

Her long-term interest in nutrition led her to begin researching other options for restoring emotional balance. While living in Boulder, Colorado she began her studies in clinical herbalism at the Rocky Mountain Center for Botanical Studies. She completed her training as a Certified Clinical Herbalist in 2001.

In 2002, she completed training with the Colorado Institute of Classical Homeopathy becoming certified as a Certified Homeopath. She also began attending Front Range Community College in Westminster, CO and completed courses in Anatomy & Physiology and Pathophysiology.

In 2003, Susan moved to Chico, California and began working with low-income children and families providing psychotherapy and counseling in various school-based settings throughout Butte County.

In 2007, Susan became licensed as a Marriage & Family Therapist and began working as a Clinical Supervisor providing supervision and training to school-based clinicians.

In 2010, she began training with Julia Ross, author of The Mood Cure and The Diet Cure. In 2011, Susan became certified through the NeuroNutrient Therapy Institute in the first graduating class of practitioners trained in using sound nutrition and targeted amino acids to restore brain chemistry.

In 2013, Susan became certified as a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner through the Nutritional Therapy Association.  She also completed training with Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride as a Certified GAPS Practitioner.

Susan has a passion for combining nutrition and psychotherapy.

She recognizes the connection between the nourishment we take into our bodies, the vital health we experience and the sense of emotional balance and well-being we feel. She is committed to providing options for clients that have been searching for effective alternative solutions.
